Step 1
Until 10 September 2026, the same pass was sold as "Interrail" to European residents and "Eurail" to everyone else. Eurail has now been retired worldwide - both groups buy an Interrail pass, at the same price list. The one real difference left is a small perk for people who live inside the 33-country network.
| If you live in the network (UK, EU, CH, NO, TR…) | If you live outside it | |
|---|---|---|
| What you buy | Interrail Global or France Pass | Interrail Global or France Pass (identical product) |
| Countries covered | 33 | 33 (same network) |
| Home-country bonus leg | Yes - one outbound + one inbound journey in your home country included | Not applicable |
| Price list | Same EUR price list | Same EUR price list |
| Seat reservations | Required on TGV, Frecce, night trains, etc. | Same rules |
| Booking | interrail.com | interrail.com (eurail.com now redirects here) |
Step 2
| Global Pass | France (One Country) Pass | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Multi-country European trips | Trips staying entirely in France |
| Coverage | 33 countries | France's national network (SNCF) |
| Travel days | 4–15 days flexi, or continuous up to 3 months | 3, 4, 5, 6 or 8 days within 1 month |
| From (adult, 2nd class) | €283 (4 days/1 month) | €175 (3 days/1 month) |
Step 3
A pass is a bet on flexibility and last-minute booking. Point-to-point tickets are a bet on planning ahead.
| Rail pass | Separate SNCF tickets | |
|---|---|---|
| Best when you book | Last-minute / dates uncertain | 1–3 months ahead |
| Number of journeys | 4 or more long-distance trips | 1–3 trips |
| Flexibility to change plans | High | Low (change fees apply) |
| Reservation fees on TGV | Still apply, paid separately | Included in the ticket price |
| Where to check | Pass pages on this site | SNCF Connect |
